James Gilchrist

James Gilchrist is the Director of Lighthouse L&D Consulting, where he shines a light on organizations’ learning and development needs by designing performance-based learning solutions tailored to diverse industries worldwide. With a career spanning over two decades in learning leadership, James brings deep expertise in consultative L&D strategy, instructional design, and human-centered development.

Prior to founding Lighthouse L&D, James served as Director of Client Learning Programs at The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) in New York City, supporting a wide range of financial services customers for 15 years. Now based in Lakewood, CO, he continues to grow his global network and speak on the value of authenticity in the workplace.

In 2025, James is leaning into connection and creativity: speaking on L&D-themed podcasts, presenting at conferences, supporting fellow professionals across industries, and proudly serving as both a DevLearn Conference Influencer and iSpring Learning Exchange Ambassador.

James is also a lifelong creative—performing original folk/rock music with his wife Julie (a trauma therapist and fellow artist), producing voiceovers and songs, advocating for wildlife, and mentoring aspiring L&D professionals. He’s as passionate about people as he is about learning—and whether it’s sailing the New England coast, composing a new tune, or helping someone land their dream role, he shows up with warmth, generosity, and purpose.
